Lynne Fitzhugh
Lynne Fitzhugh Ph.D., CALT-QIFounder and President
Dr. Lynne Fitzhugh holds a Ph.D. in Psychology with a focus on learning disabilities from Southern Methodist University. She is a Certified Academic Language Therapist – Qualified Instructor (CALT-QI) and the Founding President of the Colorado Literacy & Learning Center. In addition, she serves as Director and Senior Lecturer in Colorado College’s Master of Arts in Teaching – Dyslexia Specialist Program.
Recognized as a leading expert in dyslexia and learning disabilities, Dr. Fitzhugh currently serves on the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities and as President of the ALTA Charitable Foundation. She is a former President of the Academic Language Therapy Association and has served on the boards of the International Dyslexia Association and the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council. Dr. Lynne Fitzhugh is a founding editorial member of the Journal of Academic Language Therapy. She also has contributed her expertise to the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy’s Professional Development National Workgroup, playing a pivotal role in advancing literacy and education nationwide.

Evelyn HinoteBusiness Development Manager
Evelyn Hinote received her BS in International Business Management from Arizona State University and the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. She is active in the educational and artistic communities and is Vice Chair of the Board of Jane Franklin Dance. With a passion for empowering families through the arts and education, Evelyn brings a gentle touch to guiding parents through the often difficult process of gaining the support their child needs to achieve the highest level of academic success possible.

Jacqueline P. Valadez Ph.D., LDT, CALT-QI
Jackie is President of Texas Dyslexia Center, a service-driven training center built from a passion for serving students, families, teachers, and their schools.
Her passion and work in dyslexia led to serving on the ALTA Board of Directors for two terms.
Grace Peak
Grace Peak M.Ed., CALT
Grace Peak received her MA in Teaching from Colorado College in 2022. She is a Certified Academic Language Therapist and a licensed secondary classroom teacher for English and Language Arts. Grace is currently pursuing her MA in Special Education at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. Her experience in education has seen her work in private and public contexts in online, hybrid, and in-person settings with students ages K-12. As an instructor, Grace has worked with undergraduates, graduates, and other adult learners in postsecondary education in their journeys to become teachers and therapists. Grace’s professional literacy experience also includes instructional coaching and quality control in public primary schools. She serves on the advisory board for the Education Department at Colorado College and is a member of the Academic Language Therapy Association and the International Dyslexia Association.

Dyann Powell, MAT:Dyslexia Specialist, CALT-QIT, C-SLDS
Dyann is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and Dyslexia Specialist with a background in homeschooling, where she taught her three daughters—two with ADHD and one with dyslexia—using an Orton-Gillingham-based program. Her passion for helping students with dyslexia led her to earn an MAT: Dyslexia Specialist degree from Colorado College, and she is currently training as a Qualified Instructor (QI). She serves as President-Elect of the Rocky Mountain ALTA Chapter and is on the ALTA publication committee for the Journal of Academic Language Therapy. As the Dyslexia Expert for the Colorado Department of Education’s Dyslexia Working Group, she works at the district level in Douglas County, primarily with secondary students. She plans to open her own dyslexia and learning center in the near future. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and snuggling her dog.
